Restoration

I can't say The African Queen (1951) is a film that's close to my heart. It's very good, but it's never been a go-to Sunday afternoon movie for me. I detect a chilliness to all of John Huston's work, a detachment and skeptical irony that make his films admirable but not loveable. But a lot of people love this movie and they will be very happy that it is finally available on DVD and Blu-ray. I really liked this mini-documentary on the restoration, which highlights a lot of the important issues in film restoration as a whole:
